Backlink Checker.
Who's linking to any URL. Live. With context.
Paste a URL and we'll surface every backlink we know about — anchor text, link type, source DR, first-seen date, and the surrounding sentence — pulled from our 14-trillion-link index, refreshed every 24 hours.
Bookmark-worthy moments.
Four moments when knowing who's linking to a URL — and why — is the difference between guessing and acting.
Audit a competitor's link strategy
Their backlink profile is their growth strategy in plain sight. See which pieces of content earned the most links, who's linking, and what anchors they're using. Steal the patterns.
Find link-building targets that already converted
Sites that linked to a competitor are warm prospects for you. Pull their backlink list, filter by domain rating, and you've got a pitch list that's pre-qualified.
Spot toxic links pointing at you
Negative SEO is rare but real. Pull your own backlinks, sort by domain quality, flag the ones from PBNs and link farms. Disavow before they become a problem.
Validate a press placement
PR agency says they got you a feature on TechCrunch? Pull the article URL, confirm the link exists, check it's not nofollow, screenshot for the file. Trust, then verify.
What makes a good backlink in 2026?
Five signals that separate links worth chasing from links worth ignoring.
Backlinks are still — even in the age of AI search — one of the strongest ranking signals Google uses. But the math has gotten meaner. A single high-relevance dofollow link from a niche-leading site can move a ranking; a thousand low-relevance links from generic directories will do nothing. Volume stopped mattering around 2018; relevance and authority took over and never gave it back.
The five signals that matter today: source authority (the linking site's DR), topical relevance (is the linking site about your topic?), placement (in-content links > footer links > sidebar links by a wide margin), anchor text (descriptive over branded over exact-match), and link type (dofollow passes equity; nofollow signals but doesn't pass). A link that hits all five is worth chasing. A link that hits one or two is noise.
This tool surfaces all five signals on every backlink result, so you can sort, filter, and prioritize without manually inspecting 500 source URLs. The Pro platform extends this with link-growth tracking, lost-link alerts, and disavow-list automation.
Backlink signals · quick reference
Domain Rating, 0-100. Estimates the strength of the linking domain's overall backlink profile.
DR 78Same scale but at the page level — how strong is the specific linking page.
UR 41Passes link equity (PageRank). Default for most links unless explicitly marked.
rel="" or omittedDoes not pass PageRank but still counts as a signal. Common on blog comments and ads.
rel="nofollow"User-generated content link — treated as a stronger nofollow hint.
rel="ugc"Paid placement — must be marked if the link was bought or part of an ad deal.
rel="sponsored"The clickable text. Exact-match anchors are over-optimized; descriptive is safer.
"see the full guide"When our crawler first observed this link. Recency matters for fresh-content campaigns.
